Coat Pattern Inspiration for Your A/W Wardrobe

Do you need some new coat pattern inspiration? We know that there’s nothing better than making yourself a new cosy, coat for these miserable cold days that are beginning to appear. We thought now would be a suitable time to provide you with some stylish coat patterns to try out!

It’s time to get all cosy and dive into your sewing again.

The Cruella Coat

Cruella inspired coat

“My only true love darling.”

Can you blame me? This coat pattern, from MoodFabrics, is absolutely gorgeous! I was obsessed from just one look. If you’re a big Disney fan then this needs to be added to your ‘To Make’ list!

Complete with a hood and an elongated skirt, the coat pattern also includes an option for you to make inseam pockets for your coat. If you want to feel like the superior woman you are, then this should be in your basket.

The Cardoon Coat

Cardigan styled coat

Some panelled seams and nude colour blocking makes this coat pattern a perfect match for most, if not all outfits. And you’ll be happy to know that it does feature hidden pockets, as well as a high collar to keep the wind’s chill off your neck.

This coat pattern from MoodFabrics can be made using a variety of coating materials, but this one used boiled wool as it is warm and soft, which is the perfect combination for the winter.

Feel free to check out our website for any fabrics or haberdashery you may need!

Lola Coat

bouclé coat pink

This free pattern from SewMag is a popular coat design for the autumn months. Especially if you use some bouclé fabric, that’s sure to keep you warm from the wind! (We have a bouclé fabric on our website).

The pattern includes an instruction list which is relatively short and easy to understand and follow. A good pattern for those who aren’t as confident with intricate sewing.

Overall, this is a great pattern and shouldn’t take you too long to finish! You can add some of your own style to it too. Maybe you’ll decide to add on some extra buttons, or larger pockets.

The Kalmia Jacket

Another coat pattern to check out is The Kalmia Jacket from MoodFabrics. Although this pattern was directed more to the spring time, if you chose a warmer/thicker fabric, it may just work!

The jacket features a lovely shawl collar, a belt for the waist and a flared skirt for the bottom. A very sophisticated yet fun look.

You could also adjust the measurements a little if you wished to make the length a little longer, and add some faux fur to the collar for extra warmth.

Cocoon Funnel Neck

This jacket pattern from Sew Different will, without a doubt, keep you toasty warm on those cold days and nights.

Laura, from Sew Different, mentions that she altered some of the measurements in the pattern for a better overall fit. The pattern includes these changes and detailed instructions that will help you to follow along with ease.

Laura also includes some tips for those who haven’t yet mastered buttonholes, or even those who have never tried buttonholes before!
