Dressmaking: The Samara Sew Along

Its the class all you beginners have been waiting for! The wonderful Bev is back with a follow on class to get you all dressmaking in no time.

We will be using the Samara pattern by Tilly and the Buttons – we love Tillys patterns and this beginner friendly one is the perfect first project after our beginners sewing class.

In this class we will take you through:

Taking your measurements and comparing to the pattern sizes
Making any pattern alterations needed
Understanding your pattern pieces
Cutting your fabric
Constructing a garment
How to sew in a facing
Optional elasticated cuffs

There are lots of different fabric options for this project from ginghams to craft cotton, if you want a hand to pick some suitable fabrics then feel free to pop into the studio or drop us a message and we give you some advice.

What to bring:

Up to 3m m of pre-washed fabric (depending on your fabric choice/size)
Matching thread
Basic sewing kit(scissors, pins, chalk etc)

*This is class not suitable for those who haven’t already attended our beginners sewing class or have some experience setting up a machine as we do not cover this as part of the class.

Ive been a dressmaker for over 20 years and cant imagine my life without it!

You'll usually find me teaching the beginners classes, in a me made outfit of course, as these are my absolute favourite classes to teach. I love hearing everyone at the start telling me how rubbish they are going to be and then their face at the end of a project that they have made, its the best feeling!

My favourite patterns are the Zadie jumpsuit and the Kielo wrap dress.
