Ready to level up your dressmaking skills while creating a wardrobe staple you’ll reach for again and again?  Join us to make the Sew Confident Oatmeal Gilet, a relaxed, versatile layering piece that works beautifully over tees, knits, and dresses all year round.

In this hands-on class, we’ll guide you through the full process of making the Oatmeal Gilet, starting with how to accurately lay out and cut your pattern for the best possible fit and finish.  From there, you’ll sew the garment step by step with Bev’s support, learning key construction techniques along the way.

You’ll also learn how to add patch pockets, tackle bias binding for a clean, professional finish, and we’ll even demonstrate how to make your own bias tape – a brilliant skill you can use in loads of future projects.  We won’t be lining the class version due to time limitations but we can show you how to do this!

This class is ideal for confident beginners and intermediate sewists who’ve completed a few sewing projects and are ready to build their skills with thoughtful garment details and finishing techniques.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a beautifully made gilet and the confidence to apply everything you’ve learned to your next me-made project.

We will have the pattern ready and waiting for you when you arrive at the studio so all you need to bring is your chosen fabric and any matching notions.

You will need:

  • up to 1.5m of fabric
  • up to 6.5m of 25mm bias binding
  • snap fasteners (optional)

We will send you the size chart with your booking confirmation but any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@sewconfident.co.uk
