£ 95.00

In this one day class we will be designing and making your very own Christmas table runner – perfect for using up all those Christmas fat quarters (or pick some fabrics to make something that will last you all year round, the choice is yours).

We will start by planning and designing your layout and then learn how to sew half square triangles. We will make at least 3 x 12″ blocks and join these together. You will learn all about the different tools, cutting techniques, different layouts, pressing techniques and how to line everything up and sew it perfectly!

We will then move on to quilting your design and binding (or bagging out) your table runner – this will depend on time available in class but you will already covered these in the Beginner quilt class if you run out of time on the day.

You will need

6-8 fat quarters in varying prints (2 x fat quarters will do one 12″ block)

Non stretch backing fabric such as cotton 1 metre.

Wadding

Thread for quilting

1/2m of cotton for binding

If you fancy the project then absolutely! We sometimes get people coming along to class as a wee confidence boost after a break from the hobby, or if you want to sew with company it can be a great way to meet new like minded people!

If you have never sewn before you should jump on our Beginners Sewing Class to give you the basic skills required to then jump on the quilting class. In this quilting class we don't teach you how to use the sewing machine and need you to have a few sewing projects under you belt before joining. But the good news is you can do this beginners quilting class immediately after completing our beginners class!

You will learn both! Patchwork is when you take piece of fabric and sew them together to make a larger piece of fabric and the quilting is when you sew through layers of fabric and batting/wadding.
