This class is a super exciting opportunity to really delve into the quilting world!
We aim to demystify using a quilting pattern and show you how to use a block to the most of it’s creative potential! You’ll be using the Super Cute “Beehive” pattern by Elizabeth Hartman in class, we will teach you how to follow a quilting pattern to create the Bee block! This pattern includes instructions for making quilts in two sizes and a pillow cover. All projects are made using conventional patchwork techniques.
By the end of the day you’ll know how to:
Read a quilting pattern
Learn to create the block including joining squares and making triangles.
In class you should have time to complete at least one block and then you can either go on to make the rest of the quilt at home or turn it into the pillow version.
Please note we will not be teaching any of the basics of quilting in this class, we would recommend having attended our Beginners quilting class first.
I'm afraid you need a bit of sewing experience first. If you jump on our Beginners Sewing Class it will give you the skills and confidence you need to join this class, and all our other classes!
Ideally you want a quilting cotton but any weight of 100% cotton should also work. Quilting cotton is a nice medium weight making it nice to work with and giving a uniform look for your finished item because it is all the same weight. We can help you choose fabric if you are no sure just get in touch hello@sewconfident.co.uk
This class is a great intro into the world of patchwork quilt patterns and will certainly make it easier for you to give other patterns a go. You'll learn techniques and terminology that will stand you in great stead moving forward!
