Foundation paper piecing involves taking small pieces of fabric and machine stitching them to a paper template to create a patchwork style design. This method of patchwork is great for achieving crisp lines on more unusual shapes.
In this class we will show you how to build up your shape using foundation paper piecing, ensuring you understand the correct order in which to do so. We will be using the flying bumblebee pattern block little black duck which is super cute, i mean who doesn’t love a bumble bee?! This pattern can be made into a cushion, as part of a quilt or even as a wall hanging.
This class is ideal for those who’ve been along to our Beginners Quilting Class already! We’re ready to take your quilting to the next level!
Please note we will not be covering quilting or binding as you will already have mastered these techniques in our Beginners Class.
What to bring:
- Please purchase your own version of the pattern for £3.50 here This allows you to remake the design time and time again. We have a great selection of quilting fabrics available to buy on the day but you can of course bring your own if you already have some fabrics in your stash.
- Please bring a basic sewing kit(pins, scissors unpick etc) we will provide mats and rotary cutters for you though!
This class takes place in Morris Park, 37 Rosyth Road, Glasgow, G5 0YE.
I'm afraid you need a bit of sewing experience first. If you jump on our Beginners Sewing Class it will give you the skills and confidence you need to join this class, and all our other classes!
Ideally you want a quilting cotton but any weight of 100% cotton should also work. Quilting cotton is a nice medium weight making it nice to work with and giving a uniform look for your finished item because it is all the same weight. This class is a great intro into the world of patchwork quilt patterns and will certainly make it easier for you to give other patterns a go. You'll learn techniques and terminology that will stand you in great stead moving forward!
