If you haven’t caught up on The Great British Sewing Bee yet then don’t read any further!

There’s only been two episodes so far but it has been very exciting…

SPOILERS AHEAD!!

In the first episode the contestants had to create their own capsule wardrobe as well as competing in the Transformation Challenge, where sewers must create a piece from a pre-existing garment – without any instructions! They were tasked with transforming a loungewear item into a going out top, as well as creating a wrap dress for the final challenge of the episode, and fitting it to a model.

Were you inspired by some of the sewers creations? We absolutely loved Brogan’s gingham wrap dress. We have some gorgeous black and green cotton gingham in stock for those who wish to create their own!

Did you notice?

Some eagle eye viewers may have noticed something familiar when watching the show. The contestants are actually using sewing machines that we have at Sew Confident!

Both the Janome 725-S and the Janome Overlocker 6234XL have made an appearance in the show. Which just goes to show how great these machines are!

The Janome-725S would suit a beginner and experienced sew-er alike as it is super user-friendly, but the motor also packs a punch! Making it ideal for homeware sewing with those thick curtain and cushion fabrics. The 725-S is also loved by clothes makers too, which will be why it is used on Sewing Bee!

The Janome 6234XL overlocker is a perfect beginners overlocker but it’s a dream if you’re upgrading your current overlocker as it has more advanced features than entry-level machines. Such as a rolled hem switch, 2 thread option and waste tray so all your stray threads are immediately tidied, no hoovering after every use! This is the overlocker that Jenny uses at home, so you know it really has the stamp of approval.
