This class is a super exciting opportunity to really delve into the world of patchwork patterns!
We aim to demystify using a patchwork pattern and show you how to use a block to the most of it’s creative potential! You’ll be using the Super Cute “Fancy Fox 2” pattern by Elizabeth Hartman in class, we will teach you how to follow the pattern to create the Fancy Fox block! This pattern includes instructions for making quilts in three sizes and a quilted pillow cover. All projects are made using conventional patchwork techniques. You can also use the included full-size appliqué pattern to add glasses to your fox blocks! The pattern includes basic instructions for simple machine appliqué using the fabric of your choice!
By the end of the day you’ll know how to:
- Read a quilting pattern
- Learn to create the block including joining squares and making triangles
- Applique by machine
In class you should have time to complete at least one block and then you can either go on to make the rest of the quilt at home or turn it into the cushion version. This class is ideal for those who’ve been along to our Beginners Quilting Class already! We’re ready to take your quilting to the next level!
Please note we will not be covering quilting or binding as you will already have mastered these techniques in our Beginners Class.
What to bring:
Your Fancy Fox 2 Pattern
Enough fabric to make your block (see pattern)
A basic sewing kit such as scissors, pins, unpick etc
We will provide cutting mats and rotary cutters for you to use in class
I'm afraid you need a bit of sewing experience first. If you jump on our Beginners Sewing Class it will give you the skills and confidence you need to join this class, and all our other classes!
Ideally you want a quilting cotton but any weight of 100% cotton should also work. Quilting cotton is a nice medium weight making it nice to work with and giving a uniform look for your finished item because it is all the same weight. This class is a great intro into the world of patchwork quilt patterns and will certainly make it easier for you to give other patterns a go. You'll learn techniques and terminology that will stand you in great stead moving forward!
